Temporary Resident Permit

Temporary Resident Permit

A TRP is a document that authorizes a person who is inadmissible or does not meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act or Regulations either as a temporary resident or as a permanent resident to enter or remain in Canada.
If you are inadmissible to Canada, family members (spouse, common-law partner, and dependent children) traveling with you are also inadmissible and may or may not be issued an initial TRP. If the officer forms an opinion that it is justified in the circumstances for all family members to remain in Canada, then each family member will be given their own TRP and they are each permit holders in their own right.
