BUSINESS AND INVESTOR IMMIGRATION PROGRAM

BUSINESS AND INVESTOR IMMIGRATION PROGRAM

If you want to live and work in Canada, business immigration and investor immigration are pathways to permanent residency and subsequent citizenship.

Federal business immigration programs
There are two federal business immigration programs. One is the Self-Employed Persons Program; the other is the Start-Up Visa Program.

Self-Employed Persons Program

If you want to immigrate as a self-employed person, you must have relevant experience and prove that you intend to work for yourself when you arrive in Canada. You must also score at least 35 points in the selection grid. The selection board is a system where candidates are evaluated based on education, experience, age,  English, French or English and French language skills and adaptability. The maximum  score for the selection grid is 100 points.
If you intend to immigrate to Canada, you will also need to pass medical, criminal and security checks.

Start-Up Visa Program

To qualify for the Startup Visa Program, you must be running a qualifying business and have received a letter of support from a business group approved to invest in or support a startup. You must also  meet  language requirements and have sufficient funds to support yourself and  other family members participating in your immigration application. Additionally, you must meet the eligibility requirements to enter Canada.

Provincial Nominee Programs
Each province and territory has a Provincial Nominee Program. Some of these programs have categories for candidates with entrepreneurial or management experience. A successful provincial nomination typically allows a candidate to apply for permanent residence.

Eligibility requirements vary for each program. You must meet the eligibility criteria for whichever province or territory you are applying to, as well as Canada’s admissibility requirements.
